Maintenance Programs
Oxy-Genie specializes in completing periodic maintenance programs for vinyl floor covering. By this we mean a service procedure that goes beyond the normal dry service and wet mopping procedures. Your maintenance program might include spray buffing, buffing, restoring, reconditioning, burnishing, or the scrubbing procedure.
Stripping and Waxing
Stripping and waxing refers to the removal of existing wax on a floor and applying new wax. Wax is also known as ‘finish’. This is accomplished by using a mop to apply the stripper, and allowing this to sit for up to fifteen minutes. We then use our low-speed buffers with an abrasive pad to remove, or strip, the wax. This ‘mess’ is then vacuumed up and the process repeated again, until all the old wax has been removed. Once the floors have been completely stripped, they will be washed to remove any remaining wax or particles and to ensure the floor is spotlessly clean ready for the application of new wax. As you can see, this is a very time-consuming procedure; however the results are simply amazing.

Floor Stripping: What Is It?
Floor Stripping means stripping a hard floor of its existing finish. This means the removal of old soil, wax, and debris on the floor. Floor stripping can be a very time consuming and labor intensive job. How Is Floor Stripping Done?
To begin with, everything must be removed from the area you will be working on. All chairs, tables, lamps, rugs, and other items that sit on the floor must be removed so that you’re working on a bare canvas.
In a commercial space ensure that the area concerned is barricaded off with appropriate signage to prevent anyone walking on the surface, and to fulfil legal safety requirements.
Remove all debris from the area being treated. Prepare and apply the stripping solutions exactly as detailed on their labels. Collect all debris after scrubbing and ensure you do this immediately - before it dries on the floor. Wash and dry the floor until all the stripping solution has been removed from the floor. Please note that this is an abbreviated description of floor stripping, and in reality the whole process is very time consuming and a lot of hard work.
